Kuishinbo @ Jurong Point
Here's my take on buffet, starve for your previous meals, so that you can go in straight on an empty stomach and eat as much as you can to justify the hefty price tag. So here we are at the Kuishinbo buffet spread at Jurong Point. What's so special about Japanese buffet you might ask, its actually a spread of anything japanese that you can think of. Sashimi, sushi, teppanyaki, chawanmushi, sukiyaki and many more. We tried the 1hour lunch special on a weekday, whereby you only pay 20.90 +++ for a meal within 1 hour. So within this one hour, we got our hands onto any possible nice food. One of the must try is the Sukiyaki (paper hot pot), which is essentially a sweet soup base with beef and vegetables. The sweet soup, together with the soft beef is just right. Also, the freshly cut salmon sashimi slices just melt in your mouth. Not forgetting the all important chawanmushi, this is the one to die for, maybe the nearest competitor being the chawanmushi from Sushi Tei. Teppanyaki had different types of meat to choose from, beef, salmon, pork and many others, this was not too bad. One word of advice, its best to take your time to eat, as our 1 hour lunch special had made us try to eat as fast as possible, which actually forces you to reach your limit almost instantly. Jack's Place @ Anchorpoint
Today, we head to the well known factory outlet shopping centre, Anchorpoint. After a round of shopping, its good to know that you can have great food at great prices within the same building, so here we are at the Jack's Place restaurant. This place still oozes the old school charm of yesteryear. I remember the times i would visit Jack's Place for its steak, just so unforgettable as you still get the same feeling. Today we tried their lunch set special, which consists of a 120gm serving of steak, dessert and tea. The other lunch set was the satay chicken together with dessert and tea. The steak, despite small, was very tasty and it was just right, still the same quality steak from Jack's Place. Sinking my teeth into the satay chicken, i savoured the peanut satay sauce which was also just nicely done up, combining with the chicken, it was faultless. However, on the whole, Jack's Place seemed to be missing something from its ambience, its not as classy as before, but still a good eat. Dessert was just ok, the small serving of apple pie could not do much to boost the taste factor. Rating:6/10
nice hot tea for your dessert...
apple crumble pie...
there's my steak, all 120gm of it....
satay chicken.....
not to forget, a must have garlic bread with minestrone soup..
Bakerzin @ Vivocity
Today we tried Bakerzin @ Vivocity. Bakerzin, well known for its pastries was a delight as seen in the pictures. Pastry fresh out of the oven, we were first bought over by the delightful tasting macaroons on display, we would return regularly to buy macaroons. Now, we are here to try out the food fresh from Bakerzin. For the main course, we tried the meatball marinara spaghetti and prawn assam rice. The ingredients used were fresh and the combination of sauces was just right. However, the food is just only ok compared to the pastries. Without wasting any more time, we called up the desserts menu and headed straight for the Vanilla Souffle. Souffle is just so interesting, its actually a steamed cake with a crusty top shell. Break into the top shell and you can almost see the fluffy cake inside. With a slight dip into the accompanying cream, its almost heaven. Its a mixture of hard vs soft and cold vs hot, just right. Bakerzin, well known for its pastires is still the undisputed one. Rating: 8/10

Sushi Don @ Funan IT Mall
We're on the Japanese food hunt again. Today we paid a visit to the Sushi Don outlet at Funan the IT Mall. This is our 1st visit and we managed to snap yummy photos of our food hunt. The service at Sushi Don is always up to its usual standards and the staff are always on hand to serve us. We tried a variety of foods this time. Amazingly, Sushi Don offers a mixture of more asian food styles, namely, thai, japanese and korean. However, this time we tried only Japanese cuisine. When it comes to serving and pricing, Sushi Don is definitely on top of the race, the portions are big and will definitely fill your stomach to the brim.
Enough of the introduction, lets savour the food. We first tried the Seafood Ramen soup and sushi combo set. The Ramen soup was a little on the salty side but otherwise it was just nice. The sushi is also prepared fresh and is faultless. As a lover of japanese tempura, we then tried the tempura and sushi combo set. The tempura with its batter is also very light and is just right when coupled with the tempura sauce, a definite must try. Looking at these wonderful line up, one might think he/she would have to fork out a princely sum to savour such food, look no further as we did not spend much during this food hunt. A must try, rating 8/10.

Zhou Kitchen @ Far East Square
No photos were taken during the dinner. But well, a well furnished and lovely ambience, definitely brings up the standard of the food we would expect. Zhou Kitchen situated at Far East Square, with another franchise at Anchorpoint.Food served are piping hot with lovely smell, definitely a must to eat the Prawn over there which cost $28. However, the price of it is kind of expensive as there's only 6 prawns. Crackers served before the meal cost $3 while the tissue cost a dollar each. That's the standard of a normal UP restaurant ya.
Food served were not too bad, however, given the standard that its by Tung Lok, we would expect more from it.

Bai Mee Fen @ Sembawang
No photos were taken too. Sorry people!
Food served here wre cheap and yummilicious! The well known Bai Mee Fen was not the same as any other normal noodle, its more soggy and spongy, that taste like Mee Sua, and its nice is just nice! Served in a big plate that could make you eat more than one bowl. And also, not forgetting, we always need vegetables and meat to accompany with the noodle.
The Kang Kong served was slightly salty but its still delicious with the "frying pan" smell. The fried chicken wing was ok only as its a bit overly fried and the skin is kind of hard.

Sushi Tei @ Takashimaya
Today we tried Sushi Tei @ Takashimaya. Sushi Tei is definitely miles ahead of the run of the mill Sakae Sushi that's sprouting out in most heartland shopping malls. Today we tried a variety of nice looking japanese food. First up, the salmon sashimi is freshly cut and you could almost savour the sea freshness, we enjoyed it with the wasabi which was perfect. Next up, we ordered the Sushi Tei chawanmushi which was very light on the mouth and it was just nice, not too hard or too soft and it had the melt in the mouth feeling. We also ordered the california handroll which was rolled to perfection, a mixture of crispy seaweed and soft tasting crab meat, a delight to behold. I tried the Cha Soba with Tempura set. This was the perfect combination to complete the meal. The Cha Soba served with is sauce was superb as it was not too salty and just light. After the Cha Soba, we savoured the tempura with its smooth batter and unlike other Sakae Sushi outlets, the tempura was light and less in oil, which is absolutely tasty. I would give this a rating of 8/10.
